Our RiverAerie Rosé is a labor of love from Susan Bunnell. Being a big fan of rosé wines, Susan decided there was a hole in our portfolio that needed to be filled, so she set about to perfect her rosé method. We regularly practice saignée (bleeding) on our Syrahs to enhance concentration. A few hours after crushing, we separate some of the juice in the fermenter from the skins. One of the collateral benefits is a small amount of delicious and beautifully colored juice for rosé. Susan has blended these and fermented them in cool conditions to preserve the aromatics of the Syrah grapes. The resulting wine was finished just off-dry and aged for 5 months in older barrels.
