Viognier, Talcott Vyd., 2007

$26.00 (library)

Talcott Vineyard is in the newly established Wahluke Slope Appellation. This warm site is characterized by sandy and loamy soil types. It is part of an alluvial fan formed over the eons by the flow of the Columbia River. The Viognier produced here exhibits all the wonderful floral and fruity aromatics that this variety can offer under the right conditions. We began the fermentation in a tank but then transferred it to older barrels to finish, then aged the wine for five months in barrel before bottling.

Winemaker’s Notes:

Peach, honeydew melon, apricot, and honeysuckle aromas predominate, with hint of juniper berry in the background; bright entry on the palate, round on the mid-palate but with good acidity; lemon and lemon zest flavors with a slight butterscotch note in the background.
