Syrah, Boushey-McPherson Vyd., 2004

$46.00 (library)

This Yakima Valley hillside vineyard, at 1300 ft. elevation, is one of the highest in the valley. It is farmed by Dick Boushey, whose reputation for producing world-class Syrah is already well established. Dick’s expert water management produces uncommonly small berries for Syrah, concentrating the flavor and color in the wine. This fruit was our last to be harvested, with excellent extended hang time. We consider this Syrah to be the most elegant of our 2004 harvest, yet still a wine of depth and substance.

Winemaker's Notes:
Nose has warm spices--cinnamon, allspice, cocoa and espresso, with an accent of nasturtium flower. Warm, soft entry with a sweet impression from the oak and a lingering finish. Deep coffee flavors contrast with bright blackberry.
