Petite Sirah, Northridge Vyd., 2007

$44.00 (library)

Northridge Vineyard is situated on the western edge of Saddle Mountain in the Wahluke Slope. This warm site with well drained, nutrient poor soils is the source of many of our favorite grapes, including this Petite Sirah. The name of this grape is in no way indicative of its stature compared to the noble Syrah. In fact, Petite Sirah produces a powerful wine with deep color.

The genetic history of the grapes bearing the name Petite Sirah is varied and  complex. However, it is documented that the Northridge Petite Sirah is in fact genetically identical to the Durif grape of the Rhône Valley of France.

Winemaker’s Notes:

Dark, dense color speaks of the  power of this wine; aromas of current, blackberry and cinnamon; surprisingly refined tannins; flavors of black stone fruits and allspice linger on the palate.
